New Art for Backers First!

I hope you're all doing well! There will be a bigger update about the progress of the book, with new Simone & Ajax art previews, as well as your download link for the second issue of Simone & Ajax, coming your way in the coming days. However, this update is to give you backers first shot at some new art available. As you know, after the Kickstarter ended I moved the campaign over to Indiegogo. Please click here to go to it: https://bit.ly/simoneandajaxgogo. While those Indiegogo backers won't get the prints and other exclusives you Kickstarter backers will, they can still get what art rewards that weren't snapped up. I'm going to be adding some new art rewards to the Indiegogo page soon, but before I do that I want to give you Kickstarter backers first shot at them. I'm adding 4 pages from the "Jetta" special and 1 pin-up for "Die Kitty Die's Cosmic Fashion Show," all from Astrocomix, and the cover for Atomic Action Comics' upcoming "Space Crusaders" #3, featuring Star Pirate. Happy New Year to everyone! I hope your holidays have been safe and healthy, though still nice. It's been a quieter year's end here, but still good. I thought I'd start out the year with a Simone & Ajax update for you.
On the plus side, yesterday I shipped out all the larger art rewards, such as covers and pages. Books will be shipped later when printed, and commissions will be shipped with books, so they haven't yet gone out. It wasn't possible to ship the larger art safely with the book, and I didn't want you to have to wait on rewards you could get sooner. You should have gotten an email from me with a tracking number. If not, please message me.
On the other hand, as with many things in 2020, things haven't gone quite as hoped on other fronts, and I've fallen a bit behind. It's not just that bug that kept me sick so long and wiped out a bunch of time. As I've mentioned, this is my first Kickstarter, and though I've been drawing comics for over 30 years, this is the first time I've ever had to deal with the business/publishing/printing end of things. As each new business-side item comes up, I need to learn how to do it myself or learn enough about it to be able to make an informed choice as to who to hire to do it and how I want it done. These both take time and have taken more time away from drawing the book than I thought it would. And I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I'm wanting to make sure these choices are the best they can be and at the same time make the stories and art the best they can be, too. Issue #2 is done and a download link will be emailed to you later this month. I should at this point be done with #3 and well along on #4, but I'm only getting to about halfway on #3. April is now unlikely for the book, but I'm doing my best to not make it too long of a delay. I hope you all understand and will find the book worth the extra weeks' wait.
Among other things I'm doing to help speed things along, I've hired a fulfillment service to send out the books when they're printed. Packing and sending out hundreds of books by myself would mean even more of a delay, so I'll let the professionals do it, so they can get to you faster. As well, while the pandemic has prevented me from working with my longtime inking assistant, Yusef Abonamah, this past year, we've now found a way to shuffle pages safely between each other. His help will help me save about an hour (sometimes more!) on each page of art, so that will keep things moving, too. I'll keep you posted on where the book stands and what's being done to get it to you as soon as possible.
And lastly, as always, I'd love your help getting the word out about The Adventures of Simone & Ajax, so please keep sharing the Indiegogo link, https://bit.ly/simoneandajaxgogo. I'm still taking pre-orders for the book and offering art rewards there.

Hi again! I had a question on this, so just wanted to clarify on the art shipments, this did not include commissions or the art included with mystery boxes. These will be shipped together with the books when published in the spring. Thanks!

First Issue Download! Preview Pages! And More!

Hi, everyone! A couple days ago I sent out a message through Kickstarter with your download link for the for the digital PDF of the 1st issue of this new Simone & Ajax series. ALL backers get this one, so if you did not get a message in your email, please sign into Kickstarter and check you messages. If you have any problems, please message me. I hope this gives you some fun reading on these cold, winter nights over the Holidays! Or warm ones for those of you in Florida or Australia and such! Further issues and the complete book will follow later.
Also, want a peek at some pages for the third issue? I shared some pencils recently, but here are the inks for the first couple pages of "Monster Mia." More previews to come in the the coming weeks.

Surveys! The Holidays! And more!

I hope everyone is safe and healthy as we head into the Holidays! We've had a great response to the BackerKit Survey. 89% of you have responded. If you're one of the remaining 11% I hope you can please do your surveys soon, as we are laying the groundwork for fulfillment of the books, even though it's several months away. This is especially important if you were a backer of one of the larger art levels, as I plan to ship that art before the end of this month. I got very sick recently (not Covid) and lost over a week of work on the book, but I'm back on it and making progress. One thing I did get done is this year's Simone & Ajax Holiday card, and I wanted to share it with all of you. Here's the front and inside of the card.
I wish this for all of you and am looking forward to contributing to that better 2021 with the new book. I'll be keeping warm this winter working on pages. I'll share some soon! Happy Holidays, and thank you for making my year bright by believing in me and Simone & Ajax!
